Merri-bek BUG have joined the Streets People Love campaign ahead of the 2024 Merri-bek council election. All candidates have been asked to commit to the Streets People Love pledge and complete this survey. Together with Walk on Merri-bek we have created scorecards for each candidate taking into account:

Nat Abboud is an independent candidate in Pentridge Ward.
Abboud has a history of supporting active transport. As Mayor, Abboud forewent a mayoral car in favour of an e-bike and has a track record of campaigning on safer active transport, and greening and improving streets both as a Greens councillor in the past, as a community member and more recently while campaigning as an independent. Abboud supported the trial of a road closure on Barrow Street, Coburg.

Jacob Andrewatha is a Socialist Alliance candidate in Bababi Djinanang.
The Socialist Alliance policy on active transport is okay and does show awareness of local campaigns and issues. Kenna Morrison is an Australian Greens candidate in Pentridge Ward.
The Greens have a sound active transport policy Greens councillors have been consistent in implementing measures from the Merri-bek transport strategy that support safe active transport and responding to residents concerns when raised. Morrison has a history as a community advocate for improved safety on Hope Street in Brunswick.
