Review of the bus services in the northern parts of Moreland

The Department of Infrastructure is undertaking a review of bus services in Melbourne, this is a staged process and Melbourne has been split into regions for the review. The Hume region is one of the first to be reviewed and incorporates the northern parts of Moreland.

The Moreland BUG has been asked to comment on services in the north of Moreland.

If you have any comments you'd like to make on these bus services please email them to Anna ASAP and she will collate them and pass them on. Some ideas to get you started:

  • Are the east-west / north-south links adequate?
  • Do buses start early and finish late enough?
  • Do services run frequently enough?
  • Do buses go where you want them to go and if not, what routes need to be covered? eg are people able to get to health and hospital appointments, jobs in particular areas at particular times (such as the industrial estates in Hume)
  • Are there ways to encourage more people to use buses? What might these be?
  • Is it easy to get information about timetables, routes etc?
  • Wouldn't it be great to see bike racks on buses, a la Brisbane, Canberra, USA etc…!!
  • Can you identify any areas that are not adequately serviced by bus routes

Also, the City of Moreland is looking for representatives on a committee for the review; it would be great to have a cyclist on the committee: if anyone is interested, please let Anna know as soon as you can, or contact Cr Kathleen Matthews-Ward directly.
